FAQs

My Mitsubishi

You will need to speak to your Dealer who can organise this on your behalf. You will be required to submit your details and proof of ownership.

Recent changes in price legislation require that all prices quoted must represent your total payment to a dealer (ie RRP plus Dealer delivery and Govt and Statutory costs). As these costs vary significantly depending upon your personal circumstances, driving record and location it is not possible for Mitsubishi to represent your individual total final payment accurately on our site.

What we can assure you is that every Mitsubishi vehicle is competitively priced in its segment of the market and its combination of price and specification make it outstanding value for money.

For full pricing details tailored to your individual circumstances please contact our Customer Call Centre on 1300 13 12 11 who will direct you to a conveniently located Dealer near you.

If you’re unsure whether you are covered, please call us on 1300 13 12 11. This number provides 24/7 assistance from anywhere within Australia.

Should a problem arise from the servicing or maintenance of your vehicle, you should discuss the issue with your Dealer’s Service Manager. If you are unable to resolve the issue after speaking to the Dealer’s Service Manager you should discuss with the Dealer Principal. If the Dealer Principal is unable to resolve your issue, please do not hesitate to contact our Customer Assistance Centre.

In 2020, Mitsubishi Motors Corporation announced the closure of the Pajero Manufacturing Corporation (PMC), due to changing customer preferences.  The plant has manufactured every generation of Pajero – known in some markets as the Shogun and Montero – since the first generation was launched in 1982. The Pajero is an Australian off-road icon, able to take on the toughest 4WD challenges. It has a unique place in the hearts of 4WD enthusiasts. The Pajero has been a trend setter – introducing monocoque body construction to the 4x4 offroad large SUV segment. As well as Super Select 4WD with a lockable transfer case, enabling superior grip of 4WD on bitumen surfaces for added control. And, let’s not forget, it was the Pajero that introduced independent rear suspension to the mass market large offroad SUV, when rigid axles were the norm in this class. This kind of forward thinking is central to Mitsubishi DNA.

A diesel engine produces Particulate Matter (PM), also referred to as soot particles, during normal operation. A DPF is fitted in the exhaust system to filter soot out of the exhaust gases to ensure that the vehicle complies with EURO 4 emission standards (Australian Design Rule: ADR 79/01-Emission Control for Light Vehicles). As soot accumulates on the DPF periodic cleaning is required to remove the deposits.

The DPF system can clean itself. This process is referred to as Automatic Regeneration.

When the DPF control system determines the DPF is almost full, the regeneration will begin automatically during driving provided certain conditions are met. Specifically, the engine must be at operating temperature and the vehicle driven with moderate load at speeds greater than 40 km/h. The need for regeneration depends on the amount of soot trapped in the DPF. The amount of soot the engine produces depends on driving behaviour and driving conditions, i.e. if the vehicle is driven on short trips with light engine load, regeneration may occur more frequently. In normal situations the regeneration should take place between 500 and 600 km.

The engine control system injects extra fuel into the engine which increases the exhaust gas temperature. The exhaust gas in turn heats up the DPF which allows the accumulated soot to be burnt and pass through the DPF as a gas (CO2).

The behaviour of the car will not change during regeneration however you may notice an increase in the indicated fuel consumption on your vehicles trip computer (where fitted) while the regeneration is occurring. The extra fuel injected into the engine may cause a small increase in the engine oil level, possibly above the maximum oil level. This is normal and causes no harm.

This means the DPF control system has determined regeneration is required but the driving conditions have not been met. For instance if the vehicle is only driven for short distances, the engine does not reach operating temperature or if the vehicle speed is too low due to heavy traffic. If the DPF warning lamp illuminates, it is necessary for the vehicle to be driven at 40 km/h or more with the engine at operating temperature in order for Automatic Regeneration to occur.

After approximately 20 minutes of driving under these conditions the DPF warning lamp should switch OFF indicating Automatic Regeneration has successfully completed.

It does not matter if the vehicle speed is sometimes less than 40 km/h. The DPF system will continue the regeneration when the speed increases above 40 km/h again. It does not matter if the vehicle is stopped with the DPF warning lamp ON. In this situation, the DPF system will continue the regeneration the next time the correct driving conditions are met. Regeneration should end within 100 km (of the DPF lamp illuminating) depending on driving conditions.

If the lamp does not go out within 100km, this indicates that the DPF system has not been able to complete the regeneration and the vehicle must be taken to an authorised Mitsubishi Dealer as soon as possible. The vehicle can still be driven in this condition but you should drive the vehicle with low engine rpm and try to avoid high engine loads and high vehicle speeds.

The Dealer will ask for information to assist with diagnosis. Information such as the approximate odometer reading when the DPF lamp first switched ON is useful in assisting with the diagnosis of the DPF system. The DPF system will be inspected and diagnosed (using the Mitsubishi MUT III diagnostic tool) and if no abnormalities are diagnosed, a Forced Regeneration will be conducted to clean the DPF. It may be necessary for the Dealer to replace the engine oil as the extra fuel injected into the engine during the DPF regeneration process may cause an increase in the engine oil level. If the vehicle was driven for a long time before being taken to a Dealer the DPF may be overloaded with soot which may result in longer repair times or even the replacement of the DPF.

Vehicles equipped with a DPF require the use of low ash engine oil. When oil replacement is carried out or if you need to top up the engine oil USE ONLY low ash oil complying with the specification: ACEA C1, C2 or C3 grade or JASO DL-1 grade. If normal engine oil instead of low ash engine oil is used, ash will accumulate more rapidly in the DPF which reduces the soot load capacity of the DPF.

Ash in the DPF can not be burnt off and can severely reduce the life of the DPF.

Plug-in Hybrid EV

Eclipse Cross Plug-in Hybrid EV has an all-electric range of up to 54km and from 2022, Outlander Plug-in Hybrid EV has an all-electric range of up to 84km.

Both vehicles have the reassurance of a petrol hybrid engine that provides complete confidence for longer trips.

Electric range figures are based on sample vehicle testing in accordance with ADR 81/02. Actual results will vary depending on traffic conditions, vehicle conditions and driving style. Lithium-ion cells degrade over time, and any decrease in battery capacity will reduce range.

Plug-in Hybrid EVs allow you to drive in electric mode, which means that you can drive with zero tailpipe emissions when in this mode.

From 2022, Outlander Plug-in Hybrid EV can provide vehicle to load capability, meaning that the vehicle can be used as a mobile battery to power a range of appliances.

There are two 220-240V AV sockets with a maximum combined 1500W on-board.

Excludes ES model.

From 2022, Outlander Plug-in Hybrid EV offers bi-directional (Vehicle to Grid) charging.

Accessed via the vehicles CHAdeMO charging port, the bi-directional charging capability allows the energy stored in the vehicle’s drive battery to be discharged back into the grid, or to power a home or other property not connected to the grid.

An approved Bi-directional EVSE is required to utilise this capability, which is sold separately to the vehicle.

The drive battery can be charged from a charging source using one of the methods shown below, using the dedicated charge port on the vehicle.

  • Normal Charging (AC 230-240V / 10A) with a standard power point
  • Normal Charging (AC 230-240V / 15A) when using a home or public charging device (EVSE)
  • Quick Charging at a public charging station
  • Charge while you drive using the Regenerative Braking System
  • Approximately 9.5 hours using a standard power point (AC 230-240V / 10A)

91 unleaded fuel

LPG

Your vehicle’s warranty will not be affected by conversion to LPG unless the problem has been caused by the fitting and running of LPG. It is likely that the conversion will also be covered by its own warranty. If you have any questions, please speak to your dealer.

First of all, check in your owner’s manual to determine whether or not your vehicle can be fitted with LPG. Our Mitsubishi dealers do not perform the conversion, but will refer you to a third party gas specialist who is expert in gas conversions.

Ethanol

A combination of 10% ethanol and 90% unleaded petrol can be used in your vehicle, provided the octane rating is at least as high as that recommended for unleaded petrol.

In this instance, Mitsubishi does not recommend you use ethanol-blended petroleum. These vehicles may experience hot fuel handling concerns and may experience a lower level of durability in some fuel system components.

All Mitsubishi vehicles built since 1986 are fully compatible with up to 10% ethanol fuel in the mixture. If your car was built prior to 1986 or you are unsure of its age, please Contact Us before putting any fuel other than that recommended in your Owner Handbook into your vehicle.

Every Mitsubishi Warranty approves the use of up to a 10% blend. Anything above this may cause engine and fuel system damage and will not be covered by warranty. Please be aware that Mitsubishi reserves the right to deny warranty for any failure or operational condition attributed to the use of poor quality fuel in your vehicle.

Mitsubishi Dealer Servicing

For the 5-year/100,000km Standard New Car Warranty Mitsubishi strongly recommends that scheduled services are performed by your Mitsubishi dealer. Our qualified Dealers benefit from full factory support, and the equipment and knowledge required to service all Mitsubishi vehicles. However, services can be carried out by another qualified service provider if the service is performed in accordance with the requirements detailed in your Vehicle Service and Warranty book. In this instance, Mitsubishi highly recommends the use of Genuine Parts and Mitsubishi Coolant. Oils used should also meet or exceed the ratings listed in the Vehicle Owner’s handbook. If servicing is performed by someone other than a Mitsubishi Dealer, and/or a concern occurs which is a result of incorrect servicing, using other than Genuine Parts or Coolant, or using the incorrect oil specification, then warranty will be affected and denied on that or related components.

The 10-year/200,000km Extended New Car Warranty is a separate and an additional extension to the 5-year/100,000km Standard New Car Warranty which is required to have ALL scheduled services completed at an authorised Mitsubishi Dealership AND the vehicle must be serviced in accordance with the service and maintenance schedule in order to remain eligible for the Extended New Car Warranty. Servicing done outside of the Mitsubishi Dealer Network or maintenance schedule will forfeit the vehicles Extended New Car Warranty.

The Standard New Car warranty is unaffected by the expiration of the Extended New Car Warranty, provided the conditions of the Standard New Car Warranty are met. For more specific details, please ask your dealer.

If your Mitsubishi requires work under warranty, it must be taken to a Mitsubishi dealer. This is because your warranty is a Mitsubishi Factory Warranty. If you live in a particularly remote area (e.g. more than 3 hours drive from the closest Mitsubishi Dealer), you should contact the Service Manager at the Dealer at which you purchased your vehicle to request their assistance in arranging the repair at a local non-Mitsubishi repairer.

Missed Service

To remain eligible for the 10/10 Diamond Advantage 10-year/200,000km Extended New Car Warranty, ALL scheduled services must be completed at an authorised Mitsubishi Dealership AND the vehicle must be serviced in accordance with the service and maintenance schedule. If either of these conditions are not complied with, the Extended New Car Warranty will immediately expire on and from the date the conditions are not complied with.

Failure to service your vehicle in accordance with Mitsubishi's recommendations may also affect your 5-year/100,000km Standard New Car Warranty. To find out more, please speak to your Dealer.

Vehicle Modifications

Should any failure be a result of engineering specifications being changed, the warranty may not apply to components that require replacement or conditions that occur as a result of the modifications. However, the modifications must have directly attributed to the relevant failure – e.g. if vehicle suspension is lowered it may cause vibration in the vehicle. This may not be a warrantable defect.
